New green Torquay housing scheme to create trades jobs
A new green, affordable housing scheme in Torquay is set to create new trades and local construction jobs in the area.
Career Structure reveal that the scheme, run by home developer Sovereign, will see 100 new homes built in Torquay, which will be affordable housing designed for families, over-55’s and apartments. This project will also be an eco-friendly one, the first of its kind in Torquay, and work will involve installing solar-powered water heating systems, photovoltaic roof panels and enhanced insulation.
Sovereign’s Sarah Griffin says: “We are delighted that work is now underway on this site and that local people can begin to see work starting on this important, contemporary development.”
The good news is that this project will create new trades jobs in the area, and comes at the same time that a £30 million scheme to build 220 new homes near Torquay, which will create at least 200 new jobs in the construction industry and they are looking for local plumbers, electricians and other tradespeople to help complete some of the work in Torquay.
What do you think of Torquay’s new scheme – are there any other areas in the UK doing similar things that we should write about on the Train4TradeSkills Blog?
