Train4TradeSkills News: Canary Wharf tower to create 1,000 new construction jobs
The final piece of a 20 year construction puzzle is set to go ahead, with a new tower in Canary Wharf in London.
Canary Wharf Group are set to build 25 Churchill Place this autumn, which will be a 500,000 sq ft office set in the heart of London’s Canary Wharf.
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) have agreed to rent out the new offices and have agreed a 25-year lease, which will begin when the tower is completed in 2015.
This tower will be the final project of the London Docklands regeneration programme which was unveiled 20 years ago. Since then, Canary Wharf has become one of London’s biggest financial centres and home to multinational corporations such as Barclays, HSBC and Reuters.
The project at 25 Churchill Place is set to create 1,000 construction jobs, according to the Canary Wharf Group.
These new offices will add to the office construction boom which is taken place in London between now and 2020, which will see an estimated £21 billion worth of new projects going ahead.
