Plumber strips in record time

Before you ask, plumbers haven’t been stripping all over the country and doing their best Full Monty impressions. Instead as Derby plumber has won a nationwide challenge and stripped a boiler in just 36 seconds.

Lee Darby, who runs his own plumbing company, beat out 650 other plumbers and managed to strip a Logic+ boiler in just 36 seconds in the Ideal Challenge, a joint venture from Plumb Center and Ideal Heating.

HVP Magazine reports that each entrant was required to completely strip the casing, sump cover plate, loosen the nut and fan venture union, remove the fan, the burner front, rear nuts and the burner of the boiler as quickly as possible.

Lee said in a statement that it was all because “practice makes perfect” and because he had already been fitting the Logic+ for a while, he knew exactly what to do.

Lee’s prize is a pair of tickets to watch the F1 Grand Prix in Barcelona, which takes place in May.

His time of 36 seconds was impressive, but could you, as plumbing trainees, graduates or professionals, beat Lee’s time?

Let us know if you could and what you think of Lee’s accomplishment on here or on the Train4TradeSkills Facebook and Twitter pages.
