Construction boss to become an “Apprentice” for Lord Sugar

A construction boss is swapping hiring and firing contractors on a building site for the boardroom and a seat opposite Lord Alan Sugar in the next season of the Apprentice.

Ellie Reed, 33, is the boss of A&E construction and is in charge of hiring contractors to work on projects all over the UK.

After working for rival recruitment agencies, Ellie and business partner Alison Ibbotson set up the construction company in 2007 in the midst of the recession.

Ellie will be swapping the construction industry for the opportunity to impress Lord Sugar and avoid being shown the door and receiving the infamous “You’re Fired” verdict from the business mogul.

Ellie says in her Apprentice bio: “I don’t like lazy people… dole dossers that don’t want to work. I don’t like posh kids who have everything on a plate.”

The new series of the Apprentice starts on 10 May and features a twist, as instead of the winner working for Lord Sugar, he will give them £250,000 to start their own business.
