Round 2 of Aston Uni halls to create jobs in Birmingham

One of the Midlands’ biggest regeneration schemes is set to go ahead with a £215m renovation of student accommodation for Aston University.

BAM Construction has won the £215 million contract to lead the second phase of redevelopment for Aston University. Over a thousand bedrooms will be built across two blocks of student accommodation in Birmingham.

Construction Enquirer reports that BAM will build two blocks of student halls, which will be between 4 and 18 storey’s high and include 1,053 en-suite bedrooms for students of Aston University.

1,300 en-suite rooms have already been built by Costain in the first phase of the project, which began in 2008 and cost £58 million to build.

This project will be huge for Birmingham and will create hundreds of construction jobs for plumbers and electricians working in or around the city.
