Admiral to get new HQ as Cardiff council grant planning approval

Car insurers Admiral are set to build a new HQ in Cardiff after the city council gave the green light for the project.

Cardiff City Council have granted planning consent to a new 220,000 sq ft, £30 million headquarters in the Welsh capital, which will be built right in the city centre on the former site of the David Street car park.

Construction Enquirer report that the new headquarters for Admiral will be eco-friendly and in line with BREEAM’s energy efficiency guides, and will be expected to achieve an “Excellent” rating.

The 11-storey tower is being built by developer Stoford and work is expected to begin this year. The project will likely create new jobs for contractors in and around Cardiff.

The Admiral Group’s current headquarters is at Capital Tower in Cardiff, and the company is keen to move to a bigger premises. The company was founded in 1993 and had an estimated revenue of £640 million last year.
