Train4TradeSkills News: Wickes to give self-employed tradesmen a helping hand

Wickes have launched a new website in bid to help self-employed tradesmen run a successful business.

The DIY chain has joined forces with the Government-backed Business Link to create Wickes Trade Builder, a website offering tradesmen advice and tips on how to run their own business.

The type of information on offer will include getting and keeping customers, hiring employees/apprentices and what to look for, tax assessment guidelines and template invoices.

The website has been created after research from Wickes found that 38% of tradesmen in the UK do not seek any business advice, despite the fact that many may need it.

This scheme will be of huge help to plumbers, electricians, gas engineers and builders wanting to set up their own business and will provide invaluable advice on how to go it alone and succeed.

Wicks’ Rob Murray said in a statement:

“It’s imperative that tradesmen understand how to protect and grow their businesses effectively, but our research has show that many tradesmen don’t know where to find this kind of advice easily.”

” Wickes recognises that it has a responsibility to provide the essential information a tradesman needs to run a successful business, from tax return dates to managing money.”

This site could be a great tool for trainee plumbers and electricians, especially for those for plan to or currently run their own business.
