Train4TradeSkills News: Plumber finds $20k in cash when fixing a shower
A Plumber got a bit of a shock when he reportedly discovered $20,000 cash in a customer’s home.
Jerry Laliberte, 62, who works as a plumber for Air and Energy in Florida, USA, found the $20k in cash after being called in to fix a leaky shower. The money was found when it fell out of an air duct and was wrapped in two packages.
The cash was in the house after the former owner wrote in her will that money was hidden throughout the house, but forgot that more money was hidden above the shower.
Mr Laliberte said in a statement that he handed the money back when he found it:
“I thought it was drugs at first. I wouldn’t have been able to sleep at night if I had kept any of it. And I didn’t want to just put it back in the duct, because they rent the place out as a seasonal rental.”
We reported on Train4TradeSkills News a few months ago about the types of items found in blocked pipes which plumbers had found in customers’ homes, ranging from toys, garden furniture and jewellery to cigarettes and dead animals. But rarely do you hear of $20,000 in cash being found. And at least the plumber did the right thing and handed the money back.
