Train4TradeSkills News: Kibosh hits the big time
Scottish Plumber Ross Dickinson has won the grand final of The Pitch 2011 for his invention the Kibosh, which stops water leaking from burst pipes.
Ross, 35, beat three other finalists to win The Pitch 2011, which was held at Pacha nightclub in London this week. Sponsored by BusinessZone.co.uk and Yell, the competition recognised the best inventions in the UK from the last year and was judged by social entrepreneur Karen Darby, The Secret Millionaire’s Carl Hopkins and the founder of Crunch, Darren Fell.
Ross wins £50,000 worth of business support for winning the competition, which includes a year’s mentoring from Karen Dervy and PR and Advertising from Yell.
The Judges were impressed by both the KIBOSH and Ross’ pitch. Richard Hanscott, the CEO of Yell UK said:
“The Pitch is a wonderful showcase of the depth of entrepreneurial talent and it’s clear from the quality of the finalists that this is flourishing in local businesses across the UK.
“Ross and his innovative plumbing product are an outstanding illustration of the drive and passion that are essential in setting up and running your own business. As a champion of local business, we are delighted to be able to help Ross.”
